His impressive academic achievements include a Master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA, and a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art from St. Louis University.
Capt. Bernier’s commitment to veteran affairs is unwavering. A member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) since 1993, he has held numerous leadership positions, including Department Commander for the State of Connecticut, a role he completed in May 2015. His dedication has earned him prestigious honors, including the Meritorious Service Award and Target Officer of the Year (1990).
Beyond his professional and military service, Capt. Bernier is deeply involved in community and fraternal organizations. He is an Eagle Scout, a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and an active member of the Military Officers Association of America. His contributions to air power operations during the Gulf War further underscore his lifelong commitment to national service.
An avid scuba diver, golfer, and photographer, Capt. Bernier’s well-rounded interests reflect his dynamic personality and passion for lifelong learning.
